Suryakumar Yadav Vows India Comeback After Axing

Suryakumar Yadav has vowed to fight his way back into India's T20 setup after being removed as captain and left out of recent white-ball squads. According to CricTracker, the 35-year-old said he is focused on putting in the work and trusting that a recall will follow, adding that "everything will fall into place" if his performances hold up.

The 35-year-old was axed despite leading India to their second straight T20 World Cup title in 2026. His batting had gone quiet through that tournament, with his only real impact coming in the opening match against the USA. The slump carried into IPL 2026, where he managed just 270 runs across 13 games at an average of 20.76, with only two half-centuries to show for the campaign.

Per CricTracker, selectors also weighed the two-year gap before the next global tournament when making the call to drop him, choosing to plan ahead rather than persist with out-of-form players. A BCCI source told the outlet that Suryakumar is not currently part of the team's plans, but stressed that consistent domestic scores would put him back in selection contention.

For now, Suryakumar remains a key figure for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and continues as brand ambassador for the Pro Govinda League, staying visible in the sport while he works toward reclaiming his India spot.
